The Yoga of Sound in Modern Times – new workshop

In Los Angeles on January 28 and 29 Yoga of Bass founder Claire Thompson is premiering a new interactive workshop exploring sound, music, silence and movement from ancient and modern perspectives:

The Yoga of Sound in Modern Times with Claire Thompson
In ancient India, one of the paths a yogi could study was that of the Yoga of Sound, or Nada Yoga. But how do we practice this in our modern world? From cultivating silence, looking into the neuroscience of listening, using music as meditation and mood-changer, to finding dance floor freedom, discover how to connect with and expand on this powerful practice.

Workshop includes lecture, discussion, meditation, music, kirtan, movement, and snacks!

LA West Side: Saturday January 28, 2-4 pm at Middle Way LA, the Buddhist Center where Claire did many of her studies.
$15 Tickets:

LA East Side: Sunday January 29, 5-7 pm at Kinship Yoga, the studio where Claire currently teaches!

The Yoga Of Bass Sound Healing Session is an especially curated sound experience by FreQ Nasty designed to be experienced on the SubPac Tactile Physical Audio technology. The session brings together modalities of sound and vibrational healing from around the world and across history into a seamless, meditative journey that explores the physical dimension of therapeutic sound in a unique way. Each participant is given headphones and a wearable Tactile Audio subwoofer (the SubPac M2 – ) which transfers the physical dimension of the healing journey directly into the body, silently providing the sensation of being in front of perfectly tuned mainstage sound system, but in the immersive and personalized environment of ones own listening space.

On March 11, FreQ and Claire will open the session with a discussion of the powerful role of sound in the yoga tradition and how we can use modern technology to practice the Yoga of Sound in a way relevant to our own time and place.
Limited tickets to the sound healing are being given away through our friends at Yogi Tunes, L.A. Yoga, and SubPac – or email to enter.  We can’t wait to share this experience with you!

Immediately after is our monthly Yoga of Bass Ecstatic Bass Asana/DJ Session from 8:30-11 pm, with a deep dubby downtempo set by FreQ Nasty, building from deep stretch to yoga flow to full on dance guided by Claire Thompson.
